First Presbyterian Church of Highland has an organized group of active, caring, and compassionate Deacons who minister to those members of the congregation who are in special need: those who are ill, those who are homebound, those who are lonely, those who are in mourning, those who are.....They also gladly rejoice with members in times of joy!
Monthly meetings are held, and continuous contact among the group is maintained, to assure that all are aware of those in need so that opportunities to extend this special ministry are not missed. Additionally, the Deacons work very closely with the Pastor to share information so that Pastoral involvement, where needed, can occur and to receive assistance and direction for accomplishing their work.
The Deacons are also integral to the life of FPCH through periodically serving Communion during worship, serving Communion to the homebound, supporting mission projects such as the annual Youth Mission Trip and School Supply Drive, the delivery of favors to brightn the day of selected members in the spring and fall, preparing and delivering gifts to kindergarten students and college students, cheerfully greeting visitors as they arrive for worship and any other service that is appropriate for them to render.
The Deacons are dedicated to active Christian service and are an important part of the overall First Presbyterian Church of Highland experience.
The Board of Deacons meets at the church on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. |
